Why songs from human songwriters cost more

A human-made custom song is a small commission: someone reads your story, writes lyrics, records vocals and produces the track, usually over several days. That's why the starting prices sit around $100 to $200 and go up from there.

Length and speed move the price most. Songlorious lists $200 for a 2-minute song, $250 for 3 minutes and $295 for 4 minutes. Songfinch delivers in 7 days as standard and charges more for every day sooner, up to $200 extra for next-day delivery.

What you get for that: a real singer, often one you choose and can message, and longer songs (Songfinch says 2:30 to 3:30 is typical). If a human voice matters to you, it's worth paying for.

What AI song services charge

AI song services write the lyrics from your answers and generate the music and vocals, so they can deliver in minutes and charge much less. Most AI prices in our list sit between about $20 and $70 for one song.

Several of them let you hear part of the song before you pay: GiftSong plays a free 60-second sample once you sign up, SongOven says you can hear your song before paying once you create an account, and this site plays a free 30-second chorus with no sign-up. Others, like PersonalizedSong.net and One Special Song, ask you to pay first.

Look at what one payment includes. SongOven and this site include two versions of the song, and SongOven has listed extra versions at $4.99 each. Some services sell a lyric video, printed lyrics or a streaming release separately.

Add-ons that raise the price

  • Rush delivery, for services that take days (Songfinch, Songlorious).
  • A longer song or an extra verse.
  • A photo or lyric video (GiftSong lists video gifts from US$23.99).
  • Printed or framed lyric art, CDs, vinyl or a QR plaque.
  • Putting the song on Spotify and other streaming services.

None of these are needed for a good gift. A song that says the right things, with their name in it, is the part people remember.

How to spend less without a worse gift

  • Hear it before you pay when you can. A free preview tells you more than any sample on a homepage.
  • Write three to five specific memories. Details like "pancakes every Sunday" make a better song than "she was kind", whatever the price.
  • Read the lyrics and check the name before anything is recorded. Write how to say an unusual name.
  • Check the refund and revision terms. They differ a lot: some services refund within 30 days, some never refund once work starts.
  • Download the files. Some song pages stay up forever, some only for days.

What we charge

Custom Song Generator is $19.99 for a single, paid once with no subscription. AI writes the lyrics in about 10 seconds and you can change every line. You hear a free 30-second test pressing of the chorus before you pay, then you get two full versions of the song (Side A and Side B, usually about 3 minutes each) as mp3, an album cover, a song page and one free lyrics change.

Two limits to know: the songs are made with AI, not sung by a human, and the song page and downloads stay up for a year, with the mp3s emailed to you so you can keep your own copy. For a side-by-side table with revisions and refunds, see our comparison of custom song sites.

Questions

Is a custom song worth the money?

For a birthday, an anniversary or a memorial, many people find it's the gift they remember, because it's about them. If you want to try without much risk, start with a service that lets you hear it before you pay.

Can I get a custom song for free?

You can write and record one yourself, or use a general AI music tool's free plan and write the lyrics and prompts yourself (Suno's free plan, for example, lists no song downloads). On this site the lyrics and a 30-second test pressing are free; the full song is $19.99.

Why are some custom songs $20 and others $200?

Who makes it. AI services generate the song in minutes; human songwriters spend days writing, singing and producing it, and charge for that time.

Do revisions cost extra?

It depends on the service. Songfinch includes revisions within 72 hours with limits, Songlorious may charge for changes beyond the order, and this site includes one free lyrics change after the song is made.

Write the lyrics free and hear the chorus before you pay.
