Terms of Use

Custom Song Generator (customsonggenerator.com) is operated by Chenhao Huang (ABN 76 628 118 781), a sole trader based in Victoria, Australia, who also runs Try a Trend (tryatrend.com). The points below are specific to songs. For everything else, the Try a Trend Terms of Use apply to this site too, with “videos” read as “songs”.

Who can use it

You must be 18 or older to make or buy a song.

What you can put in a song

  • Your own memories and the names of people (or pets) you know. Only include details the people in the song would be happy to hear.
  • No celebrities, public figures, real musicians or bands, and no lyrics or titles of existing songs. You can't ask for a song that sounds like a real artist.
  • No hateful, sexual, violent or harassing content, and nothing sexual involving children. We check every song and may refuse one.

Price and what you get

  • Writing lyrics and the 30-second test pressing (a preview of the chorus) are free, within daily limits.
  • A single costs $19.99 (US dollars, taxes included where they apply). You get the full song in two versions (we call them Side A and Side B), mp3 downloads, an album cover and a page with the lyrics. It's a digital product: nothing is pressed on vinyl or shipped.
  • After your song is made, you can change the lyrics once and we record both versions again for free.

Quality checks and refunds

  • Every song is checked by listening software. If the lyrics or the name don't come out right, we record it again automatically. If we can't get either version right, we refund your payment in full automatically.
  • Songs are made for you and delivered right away, so once a song is delivered as described we don't refund it because you changed your mind. If something is wrong with it, email [email protected] and we will make it right.
  • Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law, or under other consumer laws that apply to you and can't be excluded.

Your song

  • Songs are made with AI. Music made by AI can sometimes sound similar to other music.
  • You can use your song for personal purposes: play it at a party, a wedding or a memorial service, give it as a gift, share it with family and post it on social media.
  • Please don't sell it, put it on streaming services, or register it with a content ID system.
  • If you record a message to play before your song, record only your own voice, and nothing you wouldn't want the people you share it with to hear.
  • For a photo video, upload only photos you have the right to use, of yourself and of the person the song is for, each showing one adult. The video is made with AI from your photos and may not look exactly like them; if we can't make it, we refund you in full.

Sharing your song (optional)

  • After your song is ready, we may ask whether we can share it on our website's homepage, on our YouTube channel as a lyric video, or both. You choose each one separately, and saying no changes nothing about your song.
  • If you say yes, you let us show the song title, the side you picked, its lyrics, the cover art, the names sung in it, and the note and signature you add, for free, until you take it down. You confirm the people named in the song are happy for it to be shared. We review every song first and may decide not to share it.
  • We don't pay or give anything in return for sharing.
  • You can take it down anytime from your song page or from the link in our email. We remove it from the homepage within 24 hours. Removing a YouTube video is done by hand, so it can take a few days.

Reaction videos (optional)

  • A gift page may offer the person listening the option to record a reaction video for you. It's their choice, the camera only turns on when they choose it, and nothing is sent until they tap Send.
  • Only you, the person who made the gift, can watch and download a reaction that's sent to you. Please share it further only if they're happy for you to. It's kept with your song (a year) and deleted with it, or sooner if either of you deletes it.
  • We may show a reaction on our website's homepage or on our YouTube channel only where both of you agree, each place with its own tick, and only after we've watched it; we may decide not to. What's shown is the video (the faces and voices in it), the occasion, the first name of the person listening and the signature you write. We don't pay or give anything in return.
  • Either of you can take it back anytime: we take it off our website within 24 hours and delete our copy, and remove a YouTube video by hand within a few days. Until then the copy we show stays up, even after your song is deleted.
  • If someone under 18 is in the video, the person sending it must confirm everyone under 18 in it is their child or in their legal care and agree to it being shown. Those videos are only shown on our website, never on YouTube, and without names. If the person listening is a child, a parent or guardian should do the recording.

How long we keep songs

We keep your song page and the mp3 downloads for a year after your song is ready (after a free lyrics change, from when the new version is ready; if you make it a gift, from the day you say they'll get it, up to 90 days after the song is ready). Then the songs, lyrics and your details are deleted (copies in our encrypted backups are gone for good within 90 days). When your song is ready, we email you the mp3s (with the cover and lyrics) as attachments, so please keep your own copy: it stays yours after the page is gone. If both sides together are too big for one email, we attach Side A and you can download Side B from your song page. Drafts you didn't pay for, and their previews, are deleted after 7 days. Anyone with your song's link can listen to it. Email us to delete a song sooner. If you let us share your song, we keep a copy of the shared version (see above) until you take it down.
