Privacy Policy
Last updated 6 November 2026.
Custom Song Generator is operated by Chenhao Huang (Victoria, Australia), who also runs Try a Trend. This page explains what this site collects. The Try a Trend Privacy Policy applies to this site too, for anything not covered here.
What we collect
- What you type for your song: names, how to say them, who it's from, your memories and your lyrics.
- The songs, test pressings (previews) and album cover art we make for you.
- If you choose to share your song: which places you said yes to, when, the side you picked, the note and signature you added, and the exact wording we showed you.
- If the person you give a song to chooses to record a reaction: the video they send, when they sent it, and whether each of you agreed to let us show it (with the exact wording we showed).
- An anonymous ID in a cookie that keeps your songs linked to your browser, for up to a year.
- Your IP address, used only to limit free previews and stop abuse. We don't store it with your song.
- When you pay: the email you give Stripe, the amount and the payment ID. We never see your card details.
Who we share it with
- AI providers through OpenRouter (United States): your details are sent to write the lyrics and check them, and your lyrics are sent to Google's Lyria model to record previews (and songs, if another model can't), and to a Google Gemini model that listens to each song to check it. The occasion, style and your memories (without names) are sent to a Google image model to paint your album cover.
- fal (United States): your lyrics, the style and the voice you chose are sent to the music models that record your two versions: Google's Lyria, Mureka's, and MiniMax's as a backup.
- For a photo video (only if you order one): your two photos go through OpenRouter to an AI model that checks them (one adult in each, a real photo), to Google's image model that makes the preview, and to the video model that makes the film (Alibaba's Wan, or xAI's Grok or MiniMax as backups).
- Stripe, to take payments, Resend, to email you your song (the link and the mp3s), and Cloudflare, to connect visitors securely to our server.
We don't sell your information and we don't use your songs or memories to train AI.
How long we keep it
Songs you paid for, with their lyrics and the details you typed, are kept for a year after the song is ready (or after the day you say they'll get it, if you make it a gift), then deleted. Drafts you didn't pay for are deleted after 7 days. Deleted songs and details can stay in our encrypted backups for up to 90 days, then they're gone for good. Your email is used to send you your song (the link and the mp3s) and nothing else. Payment records are kept by Stripe as long as tax law requires.
If you share your song
Sharing is optional and asked separately for our homepage and our YouTube channel. What becomes public: the song title, the side you picked, its lyrics, the cover art, the names sung in it, and the note and signature you add. What never becomes public: your email, last names, and the memories you wrote to us. We keep a copy of the shared version and your consent record until you take it down; everything else about your song is still deleted on the usual schedule. You can take it down anytime from your song page or from the link in our email: we remove it from the homepage within 24 hours, and remove a YouTube video by hand within a few days.
If you give it as a gift
A gift page shows the song, its lyrics, the cover art and the names and note you write for the gift, to anyone who has its link or gift code. It doesn't show your email or the memories you wrote to us, and it can't change the lyrics. We keep the gift details with your song and delete them together. If you ask us to email the gift, we use their address only to send that one email (and tell you whether it arrived); once it's sent we keep only a masked version (like li***@gmail.com), and we never email them again.
If you record a message
If you record a message to play before your song, we keep your recording with your song and add it to the start of the mp3s and the gift page, so anyone with your song link or gift code can hear it. We only trim the silence before and after you speak and adjust its volume on our own computer: we don't change or copy your voice, make a voiceprint, or send it to any AI service. You can remove it at any time, and it is deleted together with your song.
If you add a photo video
If you add a photo video, you upload a photo of yourself and one of the person the song is for. We use them only to make your video: we check each photo (one adult, a real photo, nothing unsafe), make a free preview and then the film. The photos are deleted as soon as your video is made (or refunded); if you don't order the video, they and the preview are deleted after 7 days. The finished video is only shown on your own song page (not on the page other people see), and it is deleted together with your song.
If they record a reaction
A gift page can offer the person listening the chance to record themselves with their front camera while the song plays. It stays off unless they choose it: the camera turns on only after they say yes and their browser asks for permission. They watch the video first, and nothing reaches us unless they tap Send. Once it's sent, only the person who made the gift can watch and download it, on their song page or from the private link in our email. We don't use face recognition and we never send these videos to AI providers. The video is kept with the song (a year after the song is ready) and deleted with it. Like the song files, it's also kept in our encrypted backups, which follow our server: once it's deleted here, the backup copy is deleted by the next day at the latest. Either of you can delete it sooner from the gift page or the song page.
Showing a reaction is asked separately for our website's homepage and for our YouTube channel. We only show it in a place both of you said yes to (each with its own tick, recorded with the time and the exact wording you saw), and only after we've watched it. What becomes public is the video itself, so the face and voice of the person listening and anyone else in it, plus the occasion, their first name and the signature the gift-giver writes. For the homepage we make a smaller copy without location or other hidden details in the file; it stays up until either of you takes it back, even after the song itself is deleted. Either of you can take it back anytime from the gift page or the song page, or by emailing us: we take it off our website within 24 hours (usually right away) and delete our copy, and remove a YouTube video by hand within a few days.
If someone under 18 is in the video, the person who sends it has to confirm that everyone under 18 in it is their child or in their legal care and that they agree to it being shown. Videos with children are only ever shown on our website, never on YouTube, and without any names. If the person listening is a child, a parent or guardian should do the recording.
Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of your information, or to delete a song early, by emailing [email protected] with your song's link.
